Time Management

(Alarm clock: Clipart Library )           The articles I chose to read for this assignment were the first three: "The Impotance of Just Starting" , " How Checklists Train Your Brain To Be More Productive And Goal-Oriented" , and "How to Beat Procrastination" .  I chose some of these because I feel like I have problems in these areas. I also already use checklists religiously. It feels so satisfying to see how productive you really are. I did learn quite a couple of nice tricks I would like to incorporate. For example, I might tie my goals to giving myself little treats so then I can have things I can looking forward to.            Based off of my classes last semester, I think I can definitely  work on my procrastination. At times, I would procrastinate in one class because I didn't enjoy the material. As a result, I would have to put in ten times more effort than what I would've put i...

Technology

Image
(Technology: Pixbay )         Since COVID-19 has taken a big toll on everyone's life, technology has been an integral part in accomplishing a lot of tasks. With all the changes to school, online classes are no stranger.   I was pretty familiar with the technology tools listed in the assignment except for the word count extension. I downloaded it immediately as an extension on my Google Chrome. My only tip or helpful suggestion that I can think of is if you right click on a tab in Google Chrome, you can group tabs together. This is especially useful if you're working on different classes or different subjects for an assignment.

Assignments Chapter 1

I am most intrigued about the storybooks that I will be composing for this class. I really enjoyed reading the storybooks and in fact I think I read about 15 different ones. It amazed me the array of topics and freedom we have over writing. The imagination that some of the authors had were awe-striking. I have not been in a class that is this writing intensive in awhile and not to mention that the sky's the limit for this class. While reading the extra credit assignments, I was interested in the growth mindset/ HEART topic. While writing this weeks growth mindset, I almost felt relaxed because it was therapeutic.  (Photo of Roses by Lucy Cuneo )

Growth Mindset

Image
(Brain picture from the Archziner )         Before this assignment, I had never heard of Carol Dweck or the growth mindset. I do think that establishing  a growth mindset would greatly impact the youth today. Instead of feeling anxiety or feeling like a failure when things are not "correct" people can feel empowered to seek the real answers and thought processes instead. I would be super interested to learn more about this as the semester progressed. I do admit that as I have advanced in my educational career, grades have been more important than learning material. At times I would just memorize things for upcoming test than for my enjoyment. Getting into graduate schools are very competitive  and challenging. If school was somehow a combination of correctness and this growth mindset, I feel school would be a lot less dreadful for the average student. I can count on more than my hands the amount of people I know that dread getting up for school. O...

Introduction to a my Simple Life

Image
My name is Jessica and I am a senior majoring in Microbiology. A cool thing I like about my major is that microorganisms run the world; they're all around you and they're so diverse. A class I really enjoyed last semester  was Pathogenic Microorganisms and Infectious Diseases. I want to one day become a Physician Associate  and this class just fascinated me. We studied a lot of diseases and different microbes that could compromise  your health. The epidemiology of these pathogens fascinated  me and it was a one of a kind class. I currently work at a doctor's office right now as a medical assistant. I love my job and everyday is always a different day. H opefully  after I graduate I will be accepted into a program to get me closer to my goal.  I am the youngest of four which makes me the baby of the family. My parents both roughly have seven brothers and sisters. So my immediate and extended family are big. There is truly not a dull moment with my family and...

Storybook Favorites

Image
( Flower and a book ) Hades' Iliad (Kerstiaen de Keuninck, The Fire of Troy: Wikipedia Commons )          I chose this story as it had a very different perspective of Hades. Typically, Hades is casted in a negative light. I thought it was interested that he was humanized in a way. I was mildly confused through the other viewpoints in the other parts of this story, however, it was still interesting. Everything was pretty detailed and had lots of good imagery. The art used throughout this post was represented of the feelings each perspective had in a way. It was a pretty creative story about people I had already formed preconceived notions on.  Queen of the Underworld (Persephone by Marta Dahlig from Deviant Art . )           I chose this story because it had an interesting title. It had beautiful artwork. Usually when someone says ruler of the underworld I think of Hades, however, the title mentioned it was a queen. O...

My Favorite Place... Victoria, Canada

Image
Victoria, Canada (Empress Hotel in Victoria Canada: Wikimedia Commons )       Before Covid, I loved to traveled. I've been to Italy, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, and countless places in the States. However, my favorite place I've traveled to by far is Victoria, Canada. If you haven't noticed by my blog page, I love flowers and anything floral or green is my favorite. In Victoria, there is a huge 55 acre garden called Butchart Gardens. It is covered head to toe in just about every flower you can think of in all the colors of the rainbow. In addition to the garden, the whole city is covered in flowers as well which is why it is my favorite place to visit. Here are just a couple of pictures that I look on my most recent trip there.  (Personal photo of Butchart Gardens taken by me) (Personal photo of Butchart Gardens taken by me) (Personal photo of Butchart Gardens taken by me)
