I always hate that feeling of guessing pronouns especially if it's the first time I'm meeting someone. When using zoom and canvas as the sole point of contact in some classes this should be required.

Growth Mindset: Struggle into Strength

(Image from Pixy ) There have been a lot of roadblocks this week, but in a couple of weeks I think I will appreciate some of the things that happened.

Famous Last Words: A Specifically Hard Week

Image
This week has been challenging. Earlier last week my Grandpa passed away. I had to go to his funeral on Wednesday and I also neglected to do homework in the days prior to it. I am now getting back into my groove, but only slightly. I think the snow days and the bad weather will force me to be productive because I'll be bored all the time. I missed a couple assignments in my other class because I was distracted which kinda sucks and I need to get ahead again. Some of my teachers have been very lenient, but others haven't. I'm gonna work very hard and study hard for my upcoming tests in my Microbiology Physiology class. The last two weeks in that class have gotten hard and it takes me three times as long to get the lecture done since I'm always rewinding to hear a specific detail. On top of all of this my old roommate moved out and my new one moved in/ I had so much to clean and my old roommate took some of my stuff and left her stuff.  My friends have been slightly dist...

Feedback Strategies

Image
I read the Articles " The Difference Between Praise and Feedback " by Anya Kamenetz and " How to Give Bad Feedback Without Being a Jerk " by Adam Grant. Both of these articles pointed out not to be superficial while giving feedback. In the first article, superficial feedback is just praise. It gives the person no sustenance to really appreciate. In the second article, giving "compliment sandwich" is really ineffectual. Instead being transparent and keeping in mind that you are there to help them is the best way to giving feedback.  (An image from Justin Tarte )

Topic Research: Changelings

I would like to tell a story of the fairy parents and their reasoning behind switching the babies. From my research, some possible reasons that fairies did this were because they wanted that human child to act as a servant, or this was an act of punishment to the human parents. In the scandinavian tales of trolls, they would switch babies so their own would have a good life. I would like to play on the fact that the parents wanted their own to have a better life. Maybe there was a food blight and they couldn't provide for a growing baby. Once they switched the babies, I want to write about how they even may have seen the human baby as their own.  The next story I would like to tell is the human baby realizing it wasn't a fairy. In my research, the human child usually stays with the fairy families. I think there would be a internal struggle if the human baby would go back or stay with the fairy family.  The last story I would like to tell is the changeling baby and the parents...

Week 3 Story: The Rejection

Image
There were once two kids who lived on the same street, Adam and Lilith. Their parents were all best friends and they were practical raised together. Both were raised to be intelligent and witty. Adam and Lilith's parents always joked that they were destined to be together. As they grew up Adam always demanded that he was better than Lilith since he was taller and faster than her. Lilith hated this. She always felt like she was destined for something bigger. When middle school time arrived, Adam and Lilith carpooled together since they lived so close. Everyone thought they were dating and in middle school this is a huge deal. As they continued to grow up the pressure to date just continued to increase.  Eventually, when they were both sixteen they dated. Adam with his pubscent mind thought he was the most popular and the best looking guy. All Adam's friends asked Adam when he was going to have sex with Lilith. Adam replied, "When she's lucky". Word got around to ...

Reading Notes, Adam and Eve, Part B

Image
After Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit, God sent them to a cave that was dark. In the cave, Adam was frightened by a snake. Adam begs God to punish them in a place where there are no snakes.God grants this, but with Adam still fearful and insecure he throws himself down the mountain. Eve committed suicide because she was so sad. Adam felt sad that he messed up in the Garden. He never felt hardship with God there looking over him.  (The Garden from Pixabay ) Bibliography:  Rutherford H. Reading Notes, Adam and Eve, Part A

Adam was the first man to be created by God  in his likeness. Adam had a first wife named Lilith before Eve. Lilith wanted the same equality as Adam, but of course because she was a woman she wasn't granted that :(. She ran away from him and did not return.  Eve was enticed by a serpent to eat fruit from a tree that God had forbidden them to eat from. She also gave the fruit to Adam.  (Yellow Green Cat Snake from Wikipedia ) Bibliography:  Louis Ginzberg, Lilith, http://mythfolklore.blogspot.com/2014/05/adam-and-eve-lilith.html Louis Ginzberg, The Fall of Man, http://mythfolklore.blogspot.com/2014/05/adam-and-eve-fall-of-man.html
